Greensboro Chinese Association (GCA) is a nonprofit organization established in
1986. Currently, GCA has about 200 members who mainly came from Mainland China,
Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other Asian countries. GCA is supported and funded by member
donations, local and state government grants, and corporation funds. The Greensboro
City Arts Parks and Recreation, the North Carolina State Arts Council, and American
Express are some of GCA program supporters. The objectives of GCA are: to promote
the values of traditional Chinese culture; to foster closer relationship among members
and between the membership and the local community; to enrich the cultural and social
life of the members and local community; to encourage the appreciation of the visual
and performing arts of traditional Chinese culture.
The GCA has been working closely with the NC State and local governments and communities
to provide the following regular programs: The Cultural Outreach Program The Chinese
Language School The Chinese folk dance and lion dance classes Celebration of Chinese
traditional holidays Organizing and coordinating picnics, fun clubs, and contests
for general membership Donation drive for disaster relief Information exchanges
among members. These programs have been serving over 150,000 people annually in
the Greater Greensboro area and surrounding counties.
